In many ways, The Siege #2 is a great snapshot of modern day comic book battles. If you compare The Siege to 1984′s Secret Wars, Secret Wars looks tame. Let me be clear- it’s not like there’s anything wrong with the writing or artwork; it’s just that Siege Embedded was hyped as being the Frontline of The Siege, i.e. we’d see the war from the eyes of the media in the trenches. Issue 2 features Ben Urich and Will Stern driving around Volstagg for a cross country interview while they speak with citizens in their cars.
