Wanna know what happened in-between the Iron Man 1 and Iron Man 2 movies? Writers Joe Casey and Iron Man writer Justin Theroux teamed up with artists Barry Kitson and Ron Lim. So is this Iron Man 1.5 three-issue limited series worth it or not?
The Good
- Unlike your typical schlock comic book movie adaptations, Iron Man 2: Public Identity contains all new material and ties in completely with the two movies. I felt this was Marvel’s way of being like IDW, who does awesome things like this all the time. I’m pretty sure this will be Marvel’s standard operating procedure from now on.
- Iron Man movie continuity: we learn more about Iron Man’s earth. For example, Jarvis- the human butler- worked for Howard Stark and pretty much raised Anthony Stark a la Alfred Pennyworth and Bruce Wayne. Tony Stark created the J.A.R.V.I.S. computer system in his memory.
- We also see that Howard Stark physically abused Anthony when he lost his temper- not as bad as it sounds, but it was still happened. And, as revealed in the movie- Howard Stark = Tony Stark in every way.
- So what happened in-between Iron Man 1 and Iron Man 2? Iron Man destroyed all of the Somalian pirates of Aden, and had more Middle-East missions. The U.S. military wanted more control over his missions. Tony Stark/Iron Man quickly became a pop celebrity. Thunderbolt Ross hates Iron Man and wanted control over the use of the armor. Justin Hammer gets in good with the military. Iron Man had parties with tons of women in bikinis.
- There is a great flashback scene with the villain from Iron Man 1, Obadiah Stane, who gives Howard Stark advice after Anton Vanko is deported.
The Bad
- Believe it or not the artwork is slightly uneven even with Ron Lim and Barry Kitson, two professionals. I guess that’s what happens when artists team up sometimes- it looks unfinished.
- Due to licensing contracts, the actors couldn’t be drawn as is.
Anyway, I liked Iron Man 2: Public Identity a lot…This is NOT your daddy’s movie adaptation. I wish Marvel would consider an ongoing movie-based universe comic book series for their projects.

ONE PEOPLE, ONE RELIGION, ONE SOMALIA,
Once we stop the U.S Plan for setting up a puppet government and bring the members of “Al -Shabab” to the right side, we will rebuild Somalia.

Tribalism is OVER and long gone. Somalis from ever corner will unite and start all over. No divisions, or invaders stealing our land and natural resources . there is a new generation of Somalis today so the world better watch out!! [especially you Uncle Sam
Why did no one tell me Barry Kitson supplied the art for FF #4? Oh I wish he would stay there.
Unfortunately at corporations like Warner Bros., when something is successful like the Dark Knight, the board of directors is forced to repeat the success for the stock holders – whether they understand the success or not. This means all DC comic movie adaptations will take on a Nolanian darkness to the detriment of future projects.
Meanwhile, Marvel is rolling with its newfound Marvel Studios.
TMNT and SM are really the only ones of those that could be said to have gone from being animation to being movies (SMB being based on the games rather than the cartoon adaptation, TF being an entirely new version of a toy-based premise), and even then, TMNT was more accurately a comic book movie with cartoon influences (SM musicals may have been too, but I'm not familiar with them).
I love the toy u just reveiwed and I’m a huge fan of iron man 2 so can u tell me where to get that figure please.
omg!!!! I love Justin Theroux!!! he's so hot as John Hanncock…
Justin Theroux is a SERIOUS douchebag and Aniston needs to steer clear of him.Report this comment as spam or abuse

Great review Ratchet!
I agree 100% that Pak has really pulled Hulk back from the depths. If it wasn't for my blind devotion to the behemoth, I would've run screaming from Loeb's run… which is weird in a way, because I really enjoyed Hulk: Grey, and what little I've read of his from Batman/Superman was decent enough to make me, a non-DC fan, enjoy those issues.
#620, this whole arc, really, reminded me of some of PAD's stories, where, as you said, you really care about what's happening and can't wait to turn the next page or pick up the next ish. It's been really fun reading Hulk again!
Also, been meaning to mention, there was a 5 part Mini series last summer/fall called Avengers: The Origin by Joe Casey and Phil Noto that was a very Hulk-Centric and updated formation story of the team. It was a fun read. Definitely worth checking out.
Anyhoo…. Till then.
Speaking of digital comics, it seems Marvel is really pushing its digital comic site recently, and now has some Hulk stuff up there, namely 'The Fury Files' comic which is apparently in the movie continuity. It looks like there'll be more than one issue in this series, and I was wondering if you or anyone else here has gone with a subscription at Marvel's digital comic site? I'm a little leery of burping up ~$60 for the annual sub, it'd be nice to hear from someone who has it as to whether it would be worth it.
