My first exposure to superheroes was via the Superfriends and Spider-Man cartoons, which I watched during the day, and Megalo action figures.
My first few comic books were issues of World’s Finest.
My comic book collection and love for comics would not have been possible without my mother, who not only provided the financial backbone, but the emotional support (she likes them, too).
I am very open-minded when it comes to DC vs Marvel vs Independent comics. I believe we are currently in another Golden Age of comics- not from the sales or storyline perspective- but from the quality of writing and art. I realize this is a controversial statement (mostly because of the maxi-series and crossover trends, and some writers and editors not following continuity as close anymore) but if you objectively analyze a comic book from 1972 to today, I think it’s pretty clear how much they have evolved and gotten better.
All of that being said- classic comics rule, and I seem to enjoy old comics better than new ones!
